Manners-on-Cricket started out as a curiosity, gradually grew into a hobby, and then became a healthy habit. Now I’m ready to turn it into a commitment, although not one weighty enough to keep me awake at night. A number of subscribers (you know who you are) have indicated their willingness to commit to me through financial pledges of support, for which I am grateful and humbled. So, onto the stage.
I will still send my columns and articles to every subscriber for free. But by offering you the option of becoming a paid subscriber with a weekly or monthly coffee(s), I am increasing my commitment to the project.
Journalism is changing, especially sports writing. Media Houses are under increasing pressure, financially and editorially, leaving the direct route – writer to reader – an increasingly viable option.
Subscribers and ‘recipient’ readers are more than welcome to continue buying me an ad hoc coffee from time to time, but I know it takes time. So, if you enjoy my writing and can afford it, a regular contribution would be greatly appreciated! Please don’t consider it if you can’t
.
Yours is the one email that makes me stop whatever else I am doing to read it. Thank you. Coffee - I would if I could. One day ..........
Love reading your column Neil, always well researched and well written, I hope you are soon drowning in coffee ☕️☕️☕️
