It’s 6:15pm and over five hours after an epic contest came to an end. Lord’s is mostly empty, the thousands of South African supporters reluctantly ushered out of the ground once the bars finally closed. The Proteas squad and support staff assemble in the middle of the ground to sing the team song. Kagiso Rabada lowers himself to his knees to kiss the pitch, match haul of 9-110 secured.
It’s been a long, emotional day. There’s a lot to be written, a lot that will be written, and a lot that has already been written. But now, the last remnants of the press box are also being encouraged to leave. It is most definitely time for a cold beer. I’ll have to tackle today’s column later this evening…or tomorrow morning. In the meantime, here’s a Picture Gallery!

11 warrior Proteas locked in and did the damn thing.
I am so proud of them and the support staff. Fantastic!
Well done South Africa. What a game!
All hail the Duke ball!
