Soon after England’s players decided to abandon their short tour of South Africa – and make no mistake, it was the players’ decision – former England captain Michael Vaughan climbed slightly too easily on the ‘bash CSA’ bandwagon and declared that there was “no way” Australia would tour here in late February and March for their three-match Test series.
I'm an England supporter. I think the England players didn't want to be here when they heard that they might have to isolate and therefore miss Xmas with their families. So they found an excuse and collectively abandoned the one day series and legged it back home. That is my opinion. All the best Manners.
Vaughan chose to exclude the very relevant points of actually two false positives ending the tour, and the fact that Australia seemed happy for six players to go DIRECTLY from RSA to Australia for the Big Bash League. The big three continue to abuse their position and cricket is all the poorer for it.
Steve, I could not agree with you more. Once India, England and Australia declared themselves the Custodians of International cricket they continue to abuse that position to serve no-one else but themselves. It’s like they have “Trump” fever! Self-serving and arrogant. Anyway, at least we have the Sri Lankan series to look forward to.
Well, Personally I think I would raise a glass to Michael Vaughan when one of the England players test positive - now that would be a nice Christmas present!
Another very good article my good friend! No doubt it is very tough for these young men. Isolating is far from natural and they will inevitably suffer from boredom. Eating your food in solitary is not ideal either and then you are expected to perform at your best! Tough tough tough !!! Happy Christmas to you and yours ATB Camey x
