Given the state of test cricket, I fear that India and Pakistan have played their last test against each other.

It has been 17 years since they last played test cricket. A generation of players from both sides haven't played against each other in Lahore, Karachi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Rawalpindi

Brilliant article.

I also love test cricket more than the other two formats. Miss those days when everyone went to play county cricket from April to September in England. Hope India does everything to keep test cricket alive especially playing smaller nations also

Many thanks, Boris. It all feels a bit futile at the moment, but perhaps there will be an unexpected but welcome twist in the game's future. There are too many men whose names and reputations were made in Test cricket who are now invested in (and well paid by) the franchise circuit and who are unwilling to speak up, never mind do anything, to keep Test cricket alive.

Many thanks, Boris. It's beginning to feel a bit futile now, but perhaps the course of the game's future might change. There are too many cricketers whose names and reputations were made in Test cricket (and who loved every minute of it) who are now incorporated into the franchise system - or the monopoly of the big three - who aren't prepared speak up, never mind try and do anything!

Definitely welcome! It is disappointing to see, especially from the people who should know better. Initially the idea was that T20 was going to be kind of like fast food whereby people will get into cricket and move towards long-form cricket (fine dining). But now it feels like fast food is taking over instead:) I suppose at least we can keep speaking out and provide some counterpoint to the voice of money *fistbump*:)

Well said, Manners. Please keep speaking up on (Test) cricket’s behalf.
