Agree totally. Once again the technical deficiencies of batsmen who play most of their cricket on flat one day wickets were exposed. On both sides. Shaun Pollock's comments on van der Dussen's dismissal are relevant.

I think that I have raised the point about Return Crease no balls not being called before. When bowling round the wicket the bulk of Starc's deliveries appeared to be no balls.

Keep up the good work.

150 and 99, v 250 and 35 is not test cricket, it is school girls under 9 B team cricket, this was a farce, it was a scam and a fraud on the game, and the spectators, more over it was a scam on the beverage and pie sellers...

If a so called "1st world" team cannot muster 300 in the 1st of their 2 innings, regardless of the track, then they should be by all rights banned from playing, period.. We make excuses for this and that, this result should be converted to a "friendly" match fee and bonuses paid to the pie and coke sellers for lost income from the 12 or so pies they could not sell as there was no game on day 3..4..5...

Test cricket is 5 days, 90 overs per day, maximum of 450 overs, bat fast and get 600/10 and then set about trying to get the others in and out for less than 600, maybe bat a 2nd time, set the target at 300 in a day, game on, last hour, 9 down, a famous draw or a famous win.. This was disgusting by both teams, no team should be proud of this result, neither should the ICC or the broadcasters... Paying top $ for talent, to sit and drink Bud for 3 days...

This was not test cricket, this was worse than that sorry soggy rag tag T20 all out for 15... SA should be banned from any further cricket at the test level, we should be forced to play against teams like Botswana, Pitcairn Island, Faeroe Island, Greece, Ukraine, China, Nepal I hear are quite a strong team, could battle in a 5 day test against Nepal.. We are not anywhere near 1st class either international or domestic... We are trading on a reputation we have no right to use... This was an abuse of the game...

What an utterly idiotic comment. You really do have some fixed, intolerant--and unrealistically ignorant--ideas about what constitutes a test match.

Oh, in what way are my ideas unrealistic ignorant? What is wrong with a 5 day, last hour heroics... I have watched a few Test matches that went last hour, and win/loose/draw, of no value to me, what I enjoyed was the duel, the tactics, the test of captain, batter, bowler, the oh so close, the dropped sitter.. The moments that stick with you... Sure they are fixed, and for damn good reason, as that is what the game is.. I sat in the rain, 5th day, last hour, dark, should have come off for light, but SA was playing Aus, Kingsmead, we last with a few overs left, and I felt such content, sure it was tainted with the aftertaste of loss, but man, 5 days, 440 overs later, it came down to time and talent, and we were just that 0.1% less than the Australians, loved it...

Intolerant of incompetence yes, 135 and 90 all out in a 5 day test, why not just go for 4 x 90 over innings, or 3 "outs" and baseball cricket, I am sure it would sell like a 3 for $1 Bud light special over in the States, the last bastion of non cricket playing nations... Why not mandatory 2 days tests? A rest day, another 2 day test match? I know 5 day tests are gone for good, like dial up and milk in bottles delivered by the dairy at 5am... Nostalgia I guess...

What a sad tragic life it must be to not enjoy the contest but only the result... Maybe watch NBA, they have a lot more games per day, and results happen so fast...
