Hi Neil, another delightful travel email. I can feel your er, frustration (angrier words come to mind but I shall desist) at the anguish of dealing with airport security and bureaucracy . Be strong out there!
And regarding the hotel accommodation: perhaps try reading any of Dervla Murphy's travel books to her (very) off-the-beaten tracks destinations, for what she put up with ;-)
