A week before South Africa’s enthralling and spicy tussle with Bangladesh at Kingsmead another, a different engagement was taking place involving two former South African captains and a big-hitting legal team. Really big-hitting. The two men disagreed on a point of fact which was important enough to potentially affect the rest of their lives and, unable to resolve it, they had ended up here. Neither was prepared for what happened next which was a cross-examination as forensic in detail and severity as any criminal matter.
The Hearings are corporate/management irony at its absolute worst. An activity that was intended to provide justice, to build and unite, has brought nothing but injustice, destruction and further division.
This is such a sad state of affairs. The truth must come out but here it seems though this is based on a "he said/she said" and "my experience". What is decided might be based on opinion not fact. Like Australia did after "sandpaper gate" SA will hopefully arise from these sad times to be stronger and more transparent (except of course letting the coach go that just won a world cup and ashes😋). Manners you do not have to worry about making stuff up to keep cricket interesting, if the game ends in a predictable draw, someone will do something (mostly unbelieveable or stupid) that will make for great writing. Really enjoy your posts and input
Thank you so much, Stephan. You are quite right - rarely does a cricket match go by without a series of 'stories' within the story. Well, Test matches at least...
Exactly. Not only has nothing been resolved, but the situation has deteriorated. I fear that may still be the situation when the Advocates' 'verdict' after the hearing has been announced. No matter what that verdict is.

A complex situation! Thanks for the clarification Manners, well done with great insight , well written as usual.

Why …resolves nothing and puts everyone against each other to detriment of cricket here…
