Apart from the most appalling luck at the start of his limited overs captaincy career, the abiding memory of Temba Bavuma’s departure from the field of play – and the series – was the extraordinary determination he showed to ignore what was obviously a serious injury in attempt to continue batting at a critical stage of the run-chase.
Really sorry for Temba. Rate him highly but find appointing Maharaj as stand in captain makes little sense to me. He is not even the number one white ball spinner. Surely Markram was first choice.
Actually David, I fancy Maharaj is very much equal number one alongside Shamsi with the T20 World Cup in the UAE and the 2023 World Cup in India. Shamsi takes the wickets and Maharaj bowls 10 overs for 30. Bloody good combination! Maharaj has also been an outstanding captain of the Dolphins since he took over as captain and, frankly, I'd rather leave Markram alone to concentrate on scoring runs...

I bow to your superior knowledge. Thank you.
Poor guy :-( Pre- qualification in Zimbabwe loading.....
That's still a long-shot - the pre-qualifying tournament - I was just trying to wake people up to the reality of it being possible...
